Google launches Google plus API

Developers, do you want to create websites and utilities based around Google Plus? Now you can with the release of a limited version of the Google+ API. Google has released extensive APIs for many of its products, but Google+ was unfortunately left out until now.
Before this release, the most you can do to integrate Google+ with your web app is to add one of those +1 buttons. Now, the API enables you to do a whole lot more with your Google+ users.
Right now, the API is rather limited compared to other social network’s API. It has read-only access to the Google+ system, this means you can only retrieve elements such as profile information and activities. It’s not much, but it’s a good start for a limited (and beta) API. Facebook’s API, for comparison, allows for much more access and allows read and write access.
